Exclusive: Rahart Adams and Paris Smith spill all the secret info on Every Witch Way's final season

With the very last season of Every Witch Way kicking off tonight on Nickelodeon, we knew we had to talk to some of the stars and get all the deets on on-set mishaps, suspicious new characters and, most importantly, the seemingly-disappearing Daniel. We hit up our friends Rahart Adams, 19, and Paris Smith, 15, who play Jax and Maddie on the show (and also share a birthday—how adorable is that?), to get all the behind-the-scenes info.

GL: How did it feel filming the very last season of EWW?

Rahart: I’m not going to lie, it was sad. You know I grew up with these people for an entire year of my life. My teenage years, that’s a lot to me. It was really bittersweet. Bitter because I’m leaving, and then sweet because there’s a whole new world of opportunities open for me now.

Paris: When we had our last table read, we were all just crying up a storm. The faucets were on, the waterworks were happening. It was the craziest thing, but we’re just like a big family. Knowing we’re not going to be together for a while is definitely sad and upsetting. But it's been a blast.

GL: How have your guys' characters changed through the seasons?

Paris: Well, this season she gets emotionally challenged with her relationships—there’s a lot that she has to work through and has to figure out how to fix things. She’s definitely the same old Maddie that we all know and love: sassy, funny, that big personality that we all know. But she definitely has conflict, especially with Emma who she's grown to respect more as friend.

Rahart: For Jax, when we first met him he was rebellious, he didn’t care about rules. He knew that rules are meant to be bent and broken and he understood that. He didn’t care about authority, but as the seasons have progressed and as his storyline has gotten bigger and more intense, we have seen a side of Jax that you wouldn’t really expect to come out. We see his true self and in this season you get to see a side of Jax that no one really expected to see. His family brings a whole new side of his personality that no one has seen before.

GL: We've heard a lot of rumors about Jax's family this season. Can you tell us any more?

Rahart: I’m not sure how the news got out about Jax’s father and little sister, but the way they’re introduced is surprising and interesting. Bringing Jax’s family into this season has really brought a new side of Jax out. It affects Jax’s relationship with Emma and really creates a huge change inside of himself. I can’t talk on it too much, I don’t want to give away too much, but to put it simply expect the unexpected from Jax and his family. It’s a crazy storyline this season.

GL: We've also heard some crazy things about Daniel disappearing. What's going on with that?

Paris: There’s a whole Daniel mystery. This season our motto is, "Who’s Daniel?" I can't give much away, but it's definitely going to be something the fans will love seeing, and I hope they love it as much as we did acting it. We got to go on a road trip to the Everglades, which was so much fun. Maddie didn’t really like going to the Everglades because there were so many bugs and alligators and all kinds of animals, but it was definitely such a fun experience being there.

GL: Did you guys get to keep any mementos from set?

Paris: Yeah! They told us that we could take something from each of our sets, so I took a little bird from Maddie's room and the “M."

Rahart: I took Jax’s jacket of course, his signature leather jacket. I couldn’t leave without that. Also, the assistant director, Rob, gave me the clapperboard for the show, which is super special to me. That’s something you can’t find anywhere you know, something that is critical during the filming, we actually need it to film the show and we used it for the past three seasons, since I’ve been on the show and he gave it to me as a gift. So that’s something that I hold special to my heart from taking home from the show.

Paris: I'm collecting all the pictures that have been taken over the past four seasons, too. I want to make like a photo collage to remember the whole experience, I will miss everyone so much. It’s definitely going to be sad leaving.

GL: If you could work with anyone from EWW again, who would you want to work with?

Rahart: I would love to work with each and every single member of the cast again, but if I had to pick, I would love to do a show or a movie with Tyler Alvarez (Diego) or Liam Obergfoll (Philip). They’re like my best friends, my brothers. And we’ve all got basically the exact same vision in terms of cinematography and the industry and we all click on the same level. Whenever we have scenes together or whenever we work together it makes something special. I would love to do that again on a different set.

Paris: If I could pick anyone, I would pick Paola Andino, who plays Emma, or Nick Merico, who plays Daniel. Paola’s really good at drama as well as comedy, so I kind of want to do a drama with her. And Nick I definitely want to do a comedy with him because of our chemistry. We have such a comedic chemistry, it's ridiculous—and we’re always making jokes with other so I'd love to do something funny with him.

Are you excited for the premiere of Every Witch Way's Season Four, starting tonight on Nickelodeon at 7:00 p.m.? What are your plans for tuning in, tonight and the rest of the month?
