Exclusive: James McVey dishes on this summer's tour and the free Vamps concert *YOU* could win

It’s that time of year again: Whether you're already back in classes or still getting ready, back-to-school supply shopping is in full swing. And though you may be sad the summer is ending (tear), we have some great news that’ll surely put a smile on your face. Thanks to Walmart and one of the hottest British boy bands, The Vamps, you and your city can win a free concert—all while you go school shopping. Cute boys and binders? Count us in. We talked to The Vamps's James McVey about this sweet deal and their summer tour. Check it out, and don't forget to look for the contest details at the bottom.

GL: Congrats on finishing your U.S. tour!

James: Thank you! It’s been great.

GL: Was there a stop on the tour that was particularly memorable for you guys?

James: We enjoyed it all but New York was cool because our record label was there. It was nice to get to show them what we’ve been working on—but of course all of it was great.

GL: What song was the most fun to perform?

James: "Hurricane." That’s the song that was from Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day which is an American Disney movie, so it was definitely cool to play that live over here.

GL: What song is stuck in your head lately? Is there something you guys are constantly listening to while traveling?

James: We've had "I Wanna Get Better" by Bleachers on repeat.

GL: Are there any bands that are on your tour bucket list for the future?

James: Ed Sheeran would be really, really cool. We've been super inspired by Taylor Swift, MGMT and Imagine Dragons lately, but we'd love to tour with Ed.

GL: Did you guys get up to anything crazy on your days off during the tour?

James: We went kayaking in Florida on the beach and it was amzing. There was lots of wildlife, lots of big birds and jumpy fish so that was probably our favorite place to hang out. We also went paintballing one day, and that was probably my favorite moment. All of our crew was there, Before You Exit was there. It was all so much fun.

GL: You guys also recently celebrated your anniversary as a band. How does it feel to have been playing and making music for three years?

James: It’s awesome, it’s been really cool, but hopefully it's just the start of many more years.

GL: What's been the best part of the last three years?

James: I think playing in the London O2 Arena twice on the tour that we did at home was a really big deal for us. But also releasing our singles, releasing our album—every moment of that has been so exciting.

GL: It looks like you have some more music coming up, right?

James: Yeah! We have a Live EP coming out with Walmart and a new single we're working on. We haven’t released new music in quite a while so it’s going to be a big day for us.

GL: We can't wait to hear it all.
