Jacob Bertrand talks sports, The Swap, Peyton List

It's been a minute since the last Disney Channel Original Movie, The Adventures in Babysitting, premiered. We're in *desperate* need of another DCOM—stat. Luckily, The Swap, starring Jacob Bertrand and one of our fave babes Peyton List, premieres Friday, Oct. 7. Brb, grabbing the popcorn right now.

The Kirby Buckets star portrays Jack Malloy, a high school sophomore with a *lot* on his plate. The youngest of his siblings, Jack is struggling to live up to his brothers’ hockey-star legacies, while also dealing with his dad’s high tough-love tendencies and his mother’s passing. Needless to say, he doesn't have it easy. Somehow, Jack and Ellie (portrayed by Pey) swap bodies. With a spot on the Varsity hockey team on the line for Jack and a rhythmic gymnastics championship for Ellie, they both must help each other navigate back into their own bodies before it's too late.

Sports fans, you'll *love* this flick—there's tons of gymnastics and hockey to go around. Jacob—the hockey player—might be an avid athlete ("I still play [soccer] on my high school team!"), but being born and raised in California means he had no idea how to play ice hockey, and says he was only given a week and a half crash course on it before diving in—yikes.

Not only did Jacob have to learn how to play hockey and figure out just the right way to portray his character Jack, but because Jack and Ellie swap bodies, he *also* had to play Ellie the way Peyton would. Jacob says the tricky thing was not only learning how to play the character of Ellie, such as how she acts and her mannerisms, but also how to reflect Peyton in his acting style.

It might have been hard work, but let's face it—swapping bodies with someone IRL would be totally cool.

Who would J switch with if he had the choice? Legendary NBA player Steph Curry (considered "the greatest shooter ever") would be his first choice. “You could take a shot from anywhere and make it, and he’s also just such a cool guy. I got to interview him a little while back, he is so funny and one of the nicest guys,” Jacob confesses.

Who would you swap lives with if you had the chance? Are you excited to watch Jacob in The Swap?
