Mehra Marzbani shares all the deets on Chicken Girls, activism and her acting journey

Mehra Marzbani is the new kid on the block in Brat TV's Chicken Girls. She joined the cast for season nine where she plays the character Yasmina. We spoke to Mehra about what it was like joining the cast, her advice for girls starting out in the acting business and so much more. Read on for *all* the deets.

Girls' Life: What was your reaction when you found out you were joining the cast of Chicken Girls?

Mehra: I was ecstatic. It was the first professional acting job that I had ever booked. And to be on a Brat TV show of all shows was truly a dream come true for me. The other thing that was especially exciting to me was the fact that I was able to play the role of a character who belongs to a minority group and is usually underrepresented in the media—which is why I am incredibly grateful for Brat TV for bringing my character in as a stepping stone to increase diversity in their casts.

Girls' Life: What has been your favorite part of being on set?

Mehra: Getting to spend time with the cast and the crew. They are so supportive and are truly like my second family. I learn a lot from them. It's just such a great environment, I'm so lucky.

Girls' Life: What's your favorite thing about your character, Yasmina?

Mehra: I really like her personality. She's smart, she's strong, she's determined. I really like how she wants to get involved and it's important for her to do good things for her school and for her classmates—and I think I can kind of relate to that, so I appreciate her.

Girls' Life: How do you like to spend your time when you are not acting?

Mehra: When I'm not acting I go to school—but I'm also very passionate about supporting civil rights movements, such as women's health and minority representation in the media. Those things are very important to me. I was recently accepted to a youth advisory board where we're going to have the chance to discuss such issues so I'm really excited to make a difference in my community.

Girls' Life: What inspired you to start your acting career?

Mehra: Just like every other kid, I loved watching TV shows and movies. But I actually wondered why there were no actresses on TV that looked like me. That's when I decided that I was going to pursue acting so that I could be a role model for the next generation of little girls. And honestly, acting just looked so fun.

Girls' Life: What advice do you have for young girls who want to get into acting?

Mehra: Three things: believe in yourself, work hard and don't give up. This may seem a little harsh—but you should expect failure and learn to embrace constructive criticism. If acting is something you're really passionate about, love doing and you give it your all—then only good things will come your way.
