Feel-Good Friday: High school senior will walk the graduation stage with her dog

 

There’s no doubt about it: Graduation is the single happiest day of high school. Sure, the talent show is unforgettable and prom is off the charts. But nothing tops getting your diploama as your family smiles and waves proudly from the audience while your best pal Roscoe wags his tail by your side. Wait, what?

That’s right, Desi, a Michigan high school senior, is walking across the graduation stage next month with her loyal dog Walton. But see, Walton is no ordinary pooch—he’s Desi’s service dog. 

Every day for the past four years, this golden retriever has stuck by Desi, who has cerebral palsy. From going to school to helping her pay cashiers as she runs errands, it only makes sense for him to be there at Desi’s graduation—he put in enough credit hours, that's for sure! He’ll even be dressed in a cap and gown in school colors just for the occasion. Check out their get-ups for senior portraits:
