#ForEveryGirl: Girl Scouts stands up to a discriminating donor

A major donor wrote the Girl Scouts of Western Washington a check for $100,000. But they sent it back. Why? Because the donation came with a catch: the donors didn’t want the money to be used to provide the Girl Scout experience to transgender girls.

The Girl Scouts quickly said no to this condition, because, as their CEO said, the Girl Scouts are “for every girl” and every girl who wants to be a Girl Scout can.

The Girl Scouts still needed funds, though. So they just launched an awesome Indiegogo campaign to get the money, which will fund the Scout experience for hundreds of girls. And it looks like the joke is on the discriminating donor—with their inspirational video that launched the hashtag #ForEveryGirl, (watch it HERE, they’ve already raised over $100,000 online!

The Girl Scouts are about bringing girls together—every girl, from every background. And here at GL, we can totally relate to that.

What do you think about this story? Are you a Girl Scout?
