Girl fights boys only robotics club and wins

Canadian girl Cash Cayen was super pumped when she saw her local library would be offering a robotics class. But when she studied the ad more closely and asked a library worker about it, she discovered the class was being offered to boys only. And she was not okay with that.

The library defended their decision by saying that boys tend to use their “academic and literacy skills” much less over the summer and so they decided to make it a boy-targeted class. But Cash thought that wasn’t a good enough reason, especially considering women and girls are an often-discriminated-against minority in the science and technology world. So she decided not to take "NO" for an answer.

Cash started a petition that gained worldwide attention and almost 28,000 signatures! Bowing to the pressure and the accusations of gender discrimination, the library finally agreed to open the class to kids of all genders—pretty amazing, huh?

Cheers to gender equality!

Inspired by Cash’s decision to take action? Have you ever been excluded for something just because you’re a girl?
