This American runner just broke a national record

At 29 years old, Allyson Felix has officially won her ninth World Championships gold medal in Beijing. The athlete has come along way since the days of seventh grade where she first decided to try out for the track team. Nicknamed "Chicken Legs" by her highschool teammates, Felix now has three gold medals from the Olympics and has again shown the world that practice and fierce motivation pays off.

She came in first at the 400 meters race, giving her yet another reason to smile. Not only did she win the medal but she also broke the United States’ record for the most gold medals won at the World Championships, as reported by Universal Sports.

A blazing 49.26 seconds was all it took for Felix to cross the finish line, less then a third of the time it would take you to listen T. Swift’s "Bad Blood." Universal Sports reports that Felix’s time is this year’s fastest in the world. Talk about girl power.

"So grateful for this opportunity!" Felix wrote on Instagram before nabbing the gold. "No matter the outcome, my reason for running never changes...I've been blessed with a gift & I want to bring glory to God." When she's not winning medals, Allyson likes having fun in her free time. “I love to go shoe shopping! I always tell my coach that wearing heels is the perfect calf workout, but he doesn’t buy it,” she told Self

With another impressive accomplishment for the young Californian under her belt, we can’t wait to see where she runs next.
