7 reasons we wouldn't necessarily want to be famous

Ahh, the latest celebs, with their shiny cars and flawless skin—who wouldn’t wanna be them, right? Eh, not all the time. Your fave stars can make it seem like it’s all fun and games, so it’s easy to forget about how much the glam gals had to give up. Don’t get us wrong, we admire our fave celebs and all they do. But next time you’re feeling the envy, think about these priceless things you have that some stars don’t.

1. An (almost) gossip-free life

If you think you get enough “he said, she said” in the school hallways, imagine what teens like Debby Ryan and Victoria Justice have to go through. No one wants millions of crazy rumors flying around all the time. They can be hurtful, confusing and plain old embarrassing.

2. Home sweet home

When megastars like Justin Bieber hit the road for sold-out tours, it can look like nothing less than super fun. But did you know that the Biebs, and lots of artists like him, have to be away from home for months and months, barely getting enough sleep each night? Now that’s something to make you appreciate your fam—and your own comfy bed!

3. BFFs, not FBFFs

Does she want to hang for my cool stuff, or for me? That’s the question some teen stars have to deal with when they find a new potential bud. Right now, you know that your BFF loves you for you, not for what you have or what you can do. Being a celeb can sometimes mean swapping real BFFs for fake ones. What’s the fun in that?

4. Getting the guy

Unless it’s a publicity stunt, finding (and keeping) a BF can be super challenging when you’re in the spotlight. There’s no time to hang out for hours on end, which is what you need to help build a solid relationship. Even worse? You could be paid to pretend you’re dating your costar, just to up your movie ratings!

5. You’re not always working

A-list life can seem like all play and no work, but it’s actually the total opposite. You have serious responsibilities that you can’t just blow off like last night’s math homework. Plus, you can’t just say, “I’m done!” all the time and go right back to normal life.

6. Messy moments

Everyone’s been there: you throw on some sweats and a dirty old tee to run some errands with Mom—and you run into your crush at the store! What if instead of your latest cutie, it was the paparazzi, snapping pics of your messy look for all the world to see? Now that is a “blush much” moment.

7. Kiss “growing up” goodbye

Ever notice that your fave stars act a little more mature for their actual age? That’s because they have to be. Dealing with the stresses of the spotlight takes inner strength and thick skin. There’s less time to just relax and learn from your mistakes—and these things are super important.
