5 enchanting books you need to add to your summer reading list
Things we love about summer: sleeping in, reading whatever we want, pool days, Netflix binges, no school, reading whatever we want, family vacays, forever sleepovers and, oh, did we mention that we get to read whatever we want? Yeah, it's a pretty great aspect of summer. Need some rad reads to add to your reading list? Here are a few upcoming titles to lookout for.
1. Words in Deep Blue by Cath Crowley June
A love story with a twist, this is the tale of Rachael and Henry. Rachel is in love with her best friend but doesn’t get a chance to tell him before she moves away. She puts a love note inside one of his books, but he never responds. Shortly before she moves back to the city, her brother tragically drowns, leaving her utterly heartbroken. Follow the journey of Rachael and Henry as they tell their story through witty and wonderful poetry that will keep you on your toes to find out what happens at the end of the love story.
2. Rosie Girl by Julie Shepard, July
If you are a fan of plots with tons of twists and turns, this book is for you. Follow Rosie on her search for her birth mother as she escapes the life she is in. On her journey to find her mom, she gets closer and closer to finding out who she is, discovering family secrets along the way and learning things she never imagined she would.
3. Walking with Miss Millie, July
The perfect book about the power and wonder of friendship, this is the story of the friendship between a little girl and an elderly woman each walking down difficult paths. Set in the 1960s, the characters in this book share their pains with each other and show that the best friendships come when you least expect them.
4. The Beautiful Lost by Luanne Rice, June
The beautiful lost is the perfect story for the dreamer; it is a story about love, love that you aren’t sure about. It is a story about finding yourself through emotional breakdowns and heartbreaks. Maia sets off on a road trip to find her mother, but finds it extremely difficult to leave her crush behind. This story will hit home for many and is the perfect summer read.
5. The Whole Sky, July
If you are a horse lover, this book is for you, and even if you are not you will enjoy it. This is the story of 12 year old Sky and her father are horse whispers and are responsible for foaling season at multimillion dollar horse farms. But the problem arises when all the horses are stillborn and no one knows why. Sky must take it upon herself to figure out what is going on and what the vets are not able to find.
