CRUSHES

Advice

25 things to do and say around your crush

1. Be yourself
If there is one thing you should take from this, it is to always just be yourself. If your crush doesn’t like you for you, then it’s time to find someone else to crush on because you should never change yourself for someone else.

2. Tell the truth
Don’t make up outrageous lies about yourself to try and make them like you. Tell the truth about yourself and about your feelings and beliefs.

3. Compliment them
Everyone loves being complimented! Say something nice to them and they will automatically like you. Just make sure that the compliment is sincere and you are not complimenting them just to compliment them.

4. Ask them about themselves
People love to talk about themselves. Give your crush the opportunity to tell you about themselves by asking them what they are passionate about or what they like to do.

5. Don’t overshare
If you’re having your first conversation (or second or third or fourth) with your crush, try not to share the intimate details of your life and family. This might scare them away. However, this does not mean that you shouldn’t tell your crush anything about yourself. Just remember—some things should remain a mystery.

6. Like their Instagram pics
Don’t you get excited when people like your Insta pics? So will your crush! Give them that Insta love and maybe it will transform into real-life love.

7. Don’t respond to their texts immediately
Make them wait! The longer you wait, the more anxious and excited they are for you to respond. Don’t wait too long though...they might forget that they even texted you or worse—you might forget to respond.

8. Find out what they are interested in and talk about it with them
Check out their social media to find out more about their interests and talk to them about it! However, you don’t want to sound like you don’t know what you’re talking about, so make sure you read up on the topic first.

9. Always say hi to them when they walk by
Ever felt like your crush doesn’t even know that you exist? Make them notice you with something simple like waving or saying hi when you see them.

10. Be flirty
When you’re not looking for them, it is super hard to pick up on signals that someone is trying to send you. So, be clear when trying to flirt with your crush. Make it almost impossible for them not to notice that you are into them!

11. Touch their arm when you are talking to them
A classic flirty move that is tried and true, playfully touch their arm in conversation. Try not to overthink it or be awkward about it, but if the opportunity arises and it feels natural and right, touch their arm.

12. Offer them a cookie, a chip, or a fry
You wouldn’t share food with just anybody! This will make your crush feel special and they will now associate you with the good feeling of being offered something delicious.

13. Be confident
Not just with your crush, but in general—always be confident. This means shoulders back, chin up, walk around with a purpose, etc. And if you don’t quite feel confident, fake it till you make it!

14. Make eye contact with them
This will make them feel like you are really interested in what they have to say and that you are really listening to them. It will also make you seem less nervous than you are.

15. Keep the conversation flowing
If the conversation hits a low point, be sure to give it a boost. Ask another question or tell them something about yourself just to keep the conversation moving.

16. Try not to act nervous
This is similar to acting confident, but no matter how nervous you are to talk to your crush, try not to act it. Make eye contact, don’t fidget, don’t look down, speak up, etc.

17. Look your best
Look good, feel good. It’s a cliché but it is so true. You don’t need to go overboard with hairstyling and makeup and wearing fancy clothes, but a little mascara and a little lipgloss will brighten your eyes and make your pout look so kissable that you are irresistible. Also, when you put a little bit of effort into your appearance, it will make you feel better and more confident.

18. Get your friends involved
This could be risky, but the best way to find out how your crush really feels about you is to get your friends involved. Have them subtly bring your name up in conversation with your crush and report back to you.

19. Hang out in places they go a lot
If you know that they spend a lot of time at a certain coffee shop, mall, or park, try to make that place your new hangout spot. But, make sure to not follow them around from place to place because that would be a little stalker-y.

20. Don’t think too much about the future or next steps
Think about this possible relationship with your crush one step at a time. For now, your only goal should be scoring a date with them. After that, you can look ahead to another date but try to live in the moment and not think too much about the future.

21. Hang out with them in a big group of friends
Do something fun with them, but it doesn’t have to be a date. Both of you can bring friends just in case you are too nervous to hang out with them one on one.

22. Don’t talk about your exes
There is no bigger turn-off than hearing someone you’re into talk about their exes. Your crush doesn’t want to hear about your past relationships because as you and your crush  are concerned, there is only one relationship that matters—your relationship with them.

23. Have a good sense of humor
Show off your great sense of humor by laughing at their jokes (laugh with them not at them) and by making jokes and telling funny stories. If you can make your crush laugh, they will definitely want to spend more time with you and even date you.

24. Make it clear you’re single
Sometimes the only reason that your crush hasn’t asked you out yet is because they don’t know you’re available! Make it clear to them by hanging out with your girlfriends or dropping hints about not having someone to take to an event.

25. Ask them out!
Nobody can read your mind so there is a good probability that your crush has no idea that you are into them. The best way of making your intentions clear is to just bite the bullet and ask them out. Worst thing they can say is no, right?
