It’s OK to be single in 2021

During the holiday season, you probably saw your friends cuddling up with their baes all over social media—making you feel pressured make a New Year's resolution to *finally* date someone. But rushing into a relationship just because everyone around you is in one might make you miserable. It's not worth the headache.

Being in a relationship might sound *amazing*, but in reality, some of the "perfect couples" you see are secretly toxic and problematic. Being single doesn't have to be a drag. In fact, it is a great time to find peace with yourself and find new interests. Here are some awesome reasons to embrace your singlehood this year.

You get to spend time with family and friends

Relationships absorb a lot of free time, and conflicting plans between friends and your partner will occur. When you're single, you have all the time in the world to hang out with your BFFs at the mall and host a movie night with your family. It is also a great time to motivate yourself to gain new friendships or reconnect with distant family members.

More money in your piggy-bank

Nobody likes to acknowledge it, but relationships cost *mucho* dineros. Purchasing gifts, going on trips and planning date nights is enough to empty your wallet. According to the New York Post, people spend an average of $168.17 per month while dating. As a single pringle, you can use the extra cash to splurge on the newest skincare product.

Absolutely no drama

Arguments are bound to happen in a relationship, and you don't have the time to go through all the "he said, she said" miscommunication that comes with dating. Flying solo means living life without stress and unnecessary bickering all year long.

Finding yourself and not settling

One of the best things about being single is having the chance to sit down and get to know yourself. Take the time to tap into your creative side and try new things. Journaling can help you keep in touch with your emotions and goals. You can also write down what you want and deserve in a relationship, setting up healthy boundaries that you can use once you're ready for the dating world.

You might feel insecure right now, but always remember that you're beautiful and worthy. Keep your head up and work on yourself. Make 2021 the year of self-love and healing.
