The best breakup books

When Greg dumped me out of the blue, I was completely devastated. I cried, couldn’t eat and made my friends analyze every possible reason as to why I ended up stranded at a restaurant on New Year’s Eve. But then it hit me: Any loser willing to do this was so not worth my tears or time.

Sure, breaking up sucks, but there are some simple solutions to help ya bounce back from the pain. The first easy tool? Hilarious must-reads. Pick up a copy of each and kick those salty tears to the curb.

It’s Called a Breakup Because It’s Broken - Greg Behrendt and Amiira Ruotola-Behrendt

The author of He’s Just Not That Into You and his wife penned this amazing read, geared towards turning your breakup into a break-over. They dish out some harsh truths (if he dumped you, then he doesn’t want to hear from you so stop calling, texting and emailing!) and answer questions from readers, sharing their own breakup sob stories along the way. Most importantly, the book gives you actual steps to take in order to get your life back. Put down the Ben & Jerry’s and start redecorating your room, finding new places to hang out and erasing your ex from your heart and mind. This title will help motivate ya to do that.

30 Days to Getting Over the Dork You Used to Call Your Boyfriend - Clea Hantman

Addressing all stages of the grieving process, this book gives you fun activities (wait, did we just say fun and breakup in the same sentence?) to help get over your ex one day at a time. Plus, it gives you breakup songs, movies and quotes  to check out, along with a list of celebs who have famously been dumped. Yes, stars can be just like us.

The Breakup Bible - Melissa Kantor

Jennifer and Max have the perfect relationship. Well, until he dumps her. How will Jen ever get over Max when she has to see him every day in school? Luckily, her grandmother forks over “The Breakup Bible,” filled with commandments guaranteed to make her forget all about that dude. Soon, Jennifer realizes the changes she’s making are not just because of the book—her perfect boyfriend wasn’t so perfect after all.
