What to do when a guy acts different around you

You and this cute guy from your camp really clicked over the past few days. You feel totally comfortable around him when it’s just the two of you, but when he’s around his friends, he acts like a completely different person. He shyer, more tense and even mean—and the way he acts is sending your *super* mixed signals. Here are some tips on how to deal with a dude who flip flops.

Stand up for yourself.
It might be hard, but don't be afraid to call him out in front of his friends if he treats you differently in front of them. Try to do it nicely or jokingly at first, but if he continues to be weird or mean to you, then maybe you need to...

Talk to him privately about it.
If you feel uncomfortable talking to him about his behavior with other people around, pull him aside and ask him what's up. Be honest with him about how you are feeling, but don't be too harsh because this whole situation could be a misunderstanding. He could just be nervous around you with his friends around. Regardless, if he's treating you poorly, he should know. And if he is a good guy, he will apologize and change his behavior.

If he doesn’t change, move on.
After talking to him and asking him what’s going on several times, he should become more aware of how he's treating you. If his behavior doesn't improve, though, then you two aren't meant to be. He might not be ready to have a girlfriend just yet, so give him some time or find another guy who treats you right no matter who is around.
