How to prep

So, what do people wear on dates? Whatever makes you feel yourself and confident! Think about the activity first: Are you going to mini golf? Jeans or shorts and slip-on sneaks will work! Bowling? Make sure you have socks on for those sometimes-yucky bowling shoes! The main top here is to make sure you don't over or under dress. It’s also important to pack some of the basic essentials: a phone, some hand sanitizer, tissues, Chapstick, and chewing gum. Pack your bag well ahead of time so you don’t have to be rushing out the door when your date comes to pick you up.

What happens during the date?

Most likely, you'll both be nervous. But hey, you both said yes for a reason! Smile and retain eye contact. Dating should be fun and just remember that you are getting to know a person better. It's also a good idea to stay off your phone—your date will feel like second place if you'd rather text your friends all night. Nervous about what you will talk about? Before you leave, create a mental list of convo topics: What's your favorite thing about playing baseball? Do you have any siblings? What's your dream vacation? It helps to boost confidence and to prepare to talk to the person.

Post-date reflection

No matter what happens, be proud of yourself. You just went on a first date and that’s a huge step in building relationships and growing up. Even if initially-dreamy bae turns out to be a major dud, you can shake it off knowing you put yourself out there—and that's what finding love is all about!
