MAKE IT CUTE

DIYs

*This* is the most Instagrammable way to stay organized

@studywithinspo

Let's get real: this fall has been so amazing that kinda lost track of the days. But now that school’s in full swing, it’s time to get your sched in check. The best way to do that? With a bullet journal (aka bujo), ofc.

Created by designer Ryder Carroll as a form of decluttering the mind, a bujo is a DIY journal and a planner all in one. In the same place where you jot down homework, you also can express feels about your crush, make note of books you want to read, record your 5K training progress and more.

Peep the #bujo tag on Instagram to see just how creative you can get with your note-taking (think: doodles, stickers and washi tape, plus keepsakes like Instaxs from a sleepover or confetti from that concert). It’s scrapbooking meets goal tracking—and it’s totally fun and relaxing.

The best part? You don’t have to be a design pro to create a cute and effective bujo. What’s most important is that it reflects who you are in the present and sets you up for success in the future. Here’s exactly how to do just that...

Here's what you'll need:

For a simple buller journal, you'll only need four things.
1. Journal
2.  Pencil (with an eraser)
3. Ruler
4. Pens/markers

For a bit more flair, add these items.
1. Colored Markers
2. Stickers
3. Washi tape
4. Highlighters
5. Stencils
6. Sticky tabs
7. Stamps

What to do:
Create and customize your pages. How you structure it is completely up to you, but a basic journal should contain…

INDEX: Essentially, this is the table of contents for your journal. Using your pen or marker, make a list of page numbers and add the corresponding page titles. Whenever you add a new page (see below), be sure to label it with a page number and add it to your index.

FUTURE LOG: Here’s where you set up your year at a glance. Using your pencil and ruler, sketch out three monthly calendars per page across four pages, making sure to label each month and the days of the week. We recommend leaving space beside each monthly cal for any notes you might need to make, such as events or long-term goals. Trace over your pencil lines in pen. Then comes the fun part! Decorate the log with marker doodles, stickers, stamps and more.

MONTHLY LOG: A monthly log is best used to keep track of birthdays, vacations, holidays and more. Using an entire page (or two, depending on the size of your journal), draw a calendar with your pencil and ruler, then trace over your lines in pen. Fill in the days of the week and the dates, then decorate.

WEEKLY LOG: This is basically your agenda. Using your ruler and pencil, divide each page into four equal sections. Then, label each section with the appropriate day of the week and date, and use the leftover section for notes (or a mini monthly cal). Trace over your lines, decorate and repeat this step for each week in the month.

EXTRAS: After those basic pages, it’s up to you to add other sections that make the most sense for your life, like…

Lists:
• Long-term goals
• Movies watched
• Passwords
• Favorite quotes
• Morning routine
• Books to read

Trackers:
• Mood
• Spending
• Menstruation
• Social media use
• Water intake
• Exercise
