DIY Mother's Day gift ideas we heart

Sure, you can head to the mall and pick up the DVD Mom’s been hinting at for weeks. But there’s just something out Mother’s Day that makes us wanna pull out the construction paper and Elmer’s Glue. Get crafty this year with our five favorites from Pinterest.

    Flower power

A real bouquet is gorgeous, but these petal pretties won’t fade away in a week or two. Make a big one to put on the kitchen counter, or a tiny one for Mom to take to work. Just be sure not to snip up any old pics that can’t be replaced without permission.

    You’re growin’ on me

All you need for the too-cute craft that can morph from bulb planter to candle holder is an empty tuna can (or other shallow container) and a handful of clothespins. Cheap, easy and totally adorable with the construction paper hearts. Tuck in a note and you’re set!

    Black and white

Got a stack of B&W prints from when Mom or Grandma was little? Specialty shops can print them on glass for you. They make lovely vases, votives, tumblers and canisters, and are a cute way of putting a little piece of the past on display.

    Double letter score

This one is easy peasy. Head to a crafts store and grab a frame with multiple spots for photos. Grab your sibs or cousins and pick a word that has enough letters for each of you to hold on in your photo. Cut ‘em out of card stock and snap away!

    Flip it

Tons of crafts store (and even places like Target) sell teeny flip-style or accordion-style photo albums or scrapbooks for cheap. Pick one up for each lady you’re celebrating this weekend and then bust out your crafting kit. Decorate the cover with a photo and cutesy add-ons, like ribbon, buttons, rhinestones and shells. Don’t  forget to fill up the inside pages with snaps, quotes and memories.
