Go hippy with homemade henna

Want to try some temporary tattoos this summer? Henna is your new BFF. It’s a paste-like substance that can be applied to temporarily stain your skin. GL found the perfect recipe for homemade henna that everyone can use.  It washes off in about a week and is totally pain free (unlike real tattoos!). You can make any designs you want with it (the more the better!). Celebs like Vanessa Hudgens and Katy Perry adore this easy boho look. They’ve been caught rockin’ it all over the red carpet.

What you’ll need:

1 cup water

2 teaspoons of coffee (black tea works, too)

3 teaspoons of sifted henna powder

1 teaspoon of eucalyptus oil

What you’ll do:

Step 1: Boil the water. Add 2 teaspoons of coffee to boiling water. Let it rest for a few hours, then use a strainer to remove coffee grounds.  Put henna powder and eucalyptus oil in another bowl. Don't mix it!

Step 2: Add coffee to bowl of henna and oil. For best results, transfer the coffee in spoonfuls.  Instead of mixing ingredients together, press liquid into powder and oil with spoon.

Step 3: Let paint set for at least six hours, and no more than twelve. You want the henna dye to have the consistency of toothpaste.

Step 4: Apply the henna! Go crazy with cool patterns. Try applying to your feet, hands and even stomach. Have fun!
