Tote-ally Adorable Tote

Need something to lug around your books and binders…and your old backpack just isn’t making the grade? Try customizing a plain white tote with fabric paint.

What You’ll Need:

•    Plain canvas tote (white works best to show off different colors)
•    Accessories like pins or ribbon to add flair to your bag
•    Fabric Paint (Try Tulip’s Fabric Spray Paint)

Here’s what to do:
Prewash the tote but do not use fabric softener.

Create a workplace by putting down plastic or try doing this project outside.

Place cardboard on the inside of the bag to create a flat surface and keep the paint from bleeding through to the other side.
Spray the paint onto your tote in whatever fabulous designs you’d like.
We created this ultra-cute plaid paint splatter design by placing down cardboard strips to make the different stripes.

Allow your new customized bag to dry for about four hours before adding the final touches. We added a “Girls Rock” pin and pink ribbon.

Tip:  Try one of these techniques for a different design-
•    Stencil: Place stencil on fabric and spray inside the stencil.
•    Distressed: Spray lighter color on dark fabric and vice-versa.
