Five Fab Fashion and Beauty Dares to Take Before Summer Ends

Summer’s almost over (sigh). Before Labor Day try to take our way-fun dares with your style. Mix up your go-to threads, craft some cute sandals and get your skin lookin’ gorgeous before the first day.

Go DIY on Your Flip-Flops

Nab a cheap-o pair of flips, bust out the glue gun and go crazy. Make something that feels so-this-summer, whether that means girly grosgrain ribbons or slivers of sequins. Got extra time? Make a pair for your BFF, too. In a couple months, rock them as slippers around the house for sweet souvenir-inspired scuffers.

Brighten Up Your Beauty Routine

The dog days of summer are perf for sizzlin’ in super-colorful makeup. Bust out the red-orange lip gloss, splash your nails in neon yellow and line your lids in aqua (not all at once—that’s a little too double rainbow inspired). Fall’s biggest trends are muy muted, so live it up in lively hues now.

Do a Serious Style Switch

Once the school year comes, it’s easy to fall into the habit of wearing a uniform (whether your principal makes you or not!). Over the next couple weeks, go bold with your look. Try out some of summer’s wacky trends (Hawaiian shirts, anyone?) or a seersucker mini skirt, especially if you normally wear way-sporty styles. When you go school shopping, try on a couple things that feel not “you” either. Who knows, you might just fall in love.

Get Decked

When it’s crazy-hot, it’s easy to live in cut-offs and a tank top (or maybe that’s just me?). Either way, make a point to dressed up for one event, whether it’s dinner with the fam or a date with your BF. Don’t have anything big on the horizon? Doesn’t matter. Goin’ a li’l fancy on a normal day can be lots of fun, too. Or, invite your besties over for a last-minute tea party or smoothie soiree and wear your fave frock to that. So sweet.

Save Scorched Skin

It’s time to get that complexion in rehab, girl. Apply MAJOR SPF by day and moisturize before bed every night. Aloe up any leftover sunburns and buff off tough parts of your feet. Nosh skin-friendly foods (like berries, carrots, avocado and tons of water) to make sure your complexion is nourished and hydrated. When it’s time for back-to-school, your skin will sparkle!
