5 Ways to Kick-start the New Year

Don't have a resolution yet?

If you're tired of the same ol' resolutions, here's some FUN new takes on oldies.
Get ready for your best year EVER!

Try something that’s so not “you”. Don’t limit yourself to your fave activities or sports that you’re good at. Not that artistic? No big! Check out an art museum and bring a sketchbook with you. Draw what you see or sketch whatever comes to your head. Or, try reading a totally diff genre of books or watch some black and white horror movies if you’re into romcoms or get a free pass to a local gym if you’re not sporty. Who knows? You might find a new hobby.

Make a list of things you wanna do before you graduate high school. They can be serious goals (like, making honor roll every semester or taking AP Chemistry) or funsy ideas (like learn how to skateboard or start a French film club) or social stuff (like not limiting yourself to one lunch table or finally telling the boy that you’ve liked since third grade that you think he’s super-cute). Write the list in a journal and cross stuff off as you make it happen.

Move on. It can be as simple as throwing out that mixed CD from your ex or a biggie, like forgiving a former friend for a fight you two had. You’ll feel better for getting that weight off your chest, and you can start the year with a clean slate.

Spend a Satuday being silly. Whether you make up a wacky new dance move or host a retro fashion show with your besties, take a day to goof around and laugh your butt off. School and icy temps can leave you feeling cooped up, but having an LOL-worthy day with the girls or sibs can make stress melt. Don’t forget to snap tons of pics.

Take a dare. Yep, sometimes it’s good to scare yourself. Don’t do anything too crazy, but challenge yourself get over one fear. Maybe you’ll taste-test an exotic fish instead of passing on sushi (eel, anyone?) or finally audition for choir or wear that skirt you made to school or take the plunge and sign up to be a junior lifeguard. It’s all you this  year, chica!
