Dream big! Future fancies slumber party

It’s a new year, a new decade, a new world! Aren’t you tired of being the same old you that toasted the end of 2010? Usher in a new outlook on life by dreamin’ big. Afraid of fallin’ when ya shoot for the stars? Don’t worry, girlie. With this future-ific sleepover party, you’ll have your best buds around to support ya all the way.

Invites

Hello, shooting star! Launch your BFFs into the new year with metallic star invites. Grab some deep blue, purple or black cardstock and cut it into five-pointed stars about the size of salad plates. Use gold or silver glitter pens to write out the deets of your slumber party, and pass ‘em around at school.

Tasty nibbles

What’s the key to an ah-mazing party? Stellar eats, of course! Pick foods that your girls will love, but keep it on the good for ya side to respect the No. 1 new year’s resolution: to get healthy. I’m thinking delish fruit smoothies, homemade veggie pizza and some oatmeal-chocolate chip cookies for dessert. Yum!

Test time!

There are bunches of career aptitude tests out there. In fact, you’ve probably taken one or two in your time. Boot up the computer or print out some simple ones for you and your girls to take during the party. When the results are in, compare your outcomes and brainstorm possible careers. Try this easy one, or google for others.

Play with the future

Ready for something a little less serious? Pull out a classic board game—the game of LIFE—and get movin’. In less than an hour, you’ll graduate college, get married, have kids, buy a house and retire. Is it luck or is it destiny? Flick the spinner and find out!

Turn on the tube

GL adores movies about strong women doing what they love and fighting for what they want. If you’re ready to settle down and watch a few flicks, check out…

Nine to Five – Three scheming employees turn the tables on their sexist, old-time boss.

Devil Wears Prada – Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep take on the brutal fashion and media industry.

Charlie’s AngelsIf you want to watch a trio of gorgeous girls kick butt, look no further!

Legally Blonde – A future Playboy bunny heads to Harvard Law. What, like it’s hard?

Gone with the Wind – She might be stuck in a corset, but Scarlet O’Hara is the original go-getter gal.
