5 headache hacks that *actually* work

The last thing you want when you’re on the go is an uncomfortable headache. They slow us down and keep us from enjoying anything. If you're a girl who gets headaches often, here are some of the reasons you may be getting them and how to stop them.

As a teen, it's actually really common to get headaches and migraines. And if you’re experiencing stress, anxiety or depression, you are more likely to experience headaches. You may also experience hormonal headaches that happen around the time of your period. A lack of sleep and not eating as often as you should could also be affecting the frequency and severity of your headache.

Besides the obvious of eating, drinking water and sleeping, there’s more that you can do to naturally ease a headache. If you're dealing with a nagging noggin, try some of these natural remedies.

Keep track of your headaches.
If you’re struggling to pinpoint why you’re getting headaches, then try to keep track of when you’re getting them, and what you’re doing. After a while, you’ll hopefully be able to see a trend.

Use essential oils.
Oils such as lavender and peppermint can have a really calming effect on the body as well as the brain. Peppermint has shown to help with blood flow which can ease head pains and lavender can be rubbed on the temples, wrists or neck to alleviate headaches.

Add more vitamin B-complex.
These vitamins are vital to brain health and are one of the major vitamins people are lacking. Adding riboflavin and biotin, along with others, can keep your brain functioning at its best.

Exercise and stretch.
Yoga just might be the answer to all your prayers. Stress and tension is hiding all over your body and causing your headaches. Making sure you’re staying active and keeping your body moving will release the toxins and prevent pain.

Try cold or heat.
Your neck and the base of your skull can hold a lot of tension, so try applying different temperatures to ease the aches.
