Periods: All of us ladies get them, but it still sometimes feels weird to talk about them. That's why National Period Day (October 19) is so important. By encouraging discourse about our flows, we can help other girls who may be struggling with their periods.

For example, according to The Menstrual Movement's official site, "35 U.S. states still have a sales tax on period products considering them non-essential items. 1 in 4 women struggle to afford period products due to a lack of income. In the first city-wide study on period poverty, it was found that 46% of low-income women had to choose between a meal and period products."

Since our periods are natural and unavoidable, it is imperative that every female have access to affordable period supplies, and you can help! Check out The Menstrual Movement's site for how to get involved, talk to your local officials about what they're doing to help the cause, or post an Insta to raise awareness. Below, here are five of our faves from #NationalPeriodDay.
