    Bell peppers

Forget about oranges, these suckers have an even higher amount of vitamin C per serving. Vitamin C can increase energy levels which are low during depression. Purple, red or yellow? Take your pick!

    Cashews

One of the most delish nuts out there, cashews have a high amount of zinc. Depression has been linked to low levels of zinc which makes sense since zinc adjusts the brain and body's response to stress. Don't let depression get the best of ya. Snack on foods high in zinc like cashews to ward off depression.

    Romaine lettuce

Betcha would've never guessed that eating a salad could be your answer to fighting SAD (AKA: Seasonal affective disorder). Use romaine lettuce as a base in your salads to increase your folate intake. Folate is a vitamin found in leafy green veggies and a deficiency of this vitamin can cause irritability, fatigue and mental confusion. Say goodbye to boring iceberg lettuce and hello to romaine.
