Eat Right

5 easy ways to slim down your slice

We all know that pizza isn’t exactly healthy (sigh–if only). The gooey cheese, hot dough and delish toppings make us drool every time we see 'em, and it’s almost always impossible to resist grabbing a slice. Luckily, you don’t have to fight the temptation any longer–we’re showing you five ways to skinny up your slice the yummiest ways we know.

Thin out that dough, girl!

If you’re making your own pizza, roll the dough out extraaaaa thin. You’ll get less dough per slice and the super thin crust will make your toppings shine.

Pile on the veggies

You gotta get your greens somehow, right? Adding veggies doesn’t necessarily make pizza healthy, but it does give the slices some much needed nutrition. Plus, the fiber from those healthy toppings will make you wanna eat less and keep you feeling full longer.

Switch out the dough for cauliflower

Sounds crazy, but when you grind up cauliflower and get rid of all the excess liquid, it turns into a mash that can easily be used as a pizza crust. It’s delicious and low carb, so you don’t have to feel guilty if you eat one too many slices (been there, done that). Get the how-to at ifoodreal.com.

Lose the cheese

Not completely (unless you want to), but even just lightening up the cheese load will lower fat and calories on every slice. If you’re using a thinner crust like we suggested above, you won’t need all that cheese anyway.

Make it a veggie pizza–literally

It may not taste exactly like a traditional pizza, but using sliced zucchini is a nutritious alternative when that pizza craving hits. To make it, you basically treat the cut-up zucchini as crust and top it with sauce, cheese, and any other toppings you love–totally filling and healthy. Don’t believe us?
