Soothe your period cramps with these 8 foods

Period cramps can disrupt any day, and it's hard to focus on being a girl boss when you're in pain. It's time to try one (or all) of these foods that will help *you* conquer the world, no matter what time of the month it is.

Dark chocolate

Dark chocolate has a ton of benefits. It's better for the body than milk chocolate and contains more cacao beans, which have been proven to reduce mood swings and cramps during menstruation. Finally, a good excuse to eat sweets!

Salmon
There are plenty of fish in the sea, but salmon is the one to pick when you have your period—it's high in Omega-3s that reduce inflammation and breast tenderness.

Pineapple

Pineapple, besides being delicious, has bromelain. Bromelain can help relax your muscles, easing cramps.

Bananas
Bananas are packed with bloat-fighting potassium, so if that time of the month leaves you feeling puffy in the tummy, grab a banana, peel and enjoy!

Peanut butter

Peanut butter is great at regulating serotonin (the brain chemical that makes you feel happy) and is also high in vitamin E, which helps with cramping.

Ginger tea
Ginger is a natural remedy for nausea, and warmth is good for soothing your tummy. Ginger tea would be the perfect menstrual drink to have before bed, school or work.

Hummus

Hummus is made from ground chick peas, and chick peas are *amazing* at fighting PMS symptoms. They help with irritability, bloating and moodiness.

Stuffed bell peppers
Bell peppers contain a lot of water and fiber. Those two things help your body relieve gas and ease cramping.
