Balance your life better with these tips

Sometimes life gets a little *too* busy and, from school to a stacked social cal, it can be overwhelming. You have a test coming up, your best friend’s birthday and your favorite series on Netflix to catch up on. What do you have to sacrifice so you can do the other? Nothing…You can make time for it all and here’s how:

Be organized.

Organization is crucial. Invest in a planner, and map out everything you need to accomplish this week. Be creative with your sched and make it fun! Use different colored pens, brightly patterned tabs or even memo pages to help you breeze through the week.

Make a plan and stick to it.

You have the planner and you wrote out all your to-do's. The only challenge is sticking to it. Life can totally get in the way sometimes, so if you need to do more work in one day so you can take the next one off, do it. Make a plan that is flexible and fits with your schedule.

Don’t procrastinate.

It’s late Sunday night and you had the best weekend ever. You went to the beach, hung out at the pier and oh wait… have a paper due tomorrow! Ugh. Now you can’t even enjoy the weekend you just had because it’s full of regret for not doing your paper that’s worth half your final grade. Lesson learned: Don’t wait until the last minute, unless you like stress sweating.

Take time to study but also make time for yourself.

While you’re planning out your school week, make sure you allot some time for yourself. Maybe take an hour or two on Wednesday to watch that episode of Switched At Birth or go cheer on your BFF's volleyball team.

Take mental breaks.

It can be hard to sit down and work for a long amount of time, so be sure to take a breather when you need it. Just don't get sucked into Instagram for hours, or you won’t be focused the right way and you may miss out on your best work. Next time you feel like you can’t focus anymore, take a fifteen-minute break and then go back to it.

Don’t give up.

School can be hard. At one point or another you will probably struggle in a class, so don't be afraid to ask questions or ask for help. And stay positive. Think of all the friends you are making, and you are one step closer to becoming a smart, talented, and more importantly, educated young woman that can do anything she sets her mind to.
