What to do when you're having a bad day

Not every day is a great day, especially around the holidays. It's an emotional time that, while usually happy, can also be hard if you recently broke up with your BF or know someone close to you who pased away. You might feel alone or sad...and that’s okay, no matter what the reason. The important thing is to let yourself feel *all* the feelings but then pick yourself up and remember life goes on. If you're struggling to cheer up or honestly don't know how to, start with one of these tips:

Make a bad-day playlist.
There is something powerful about listening to sad music. It reminds you that you're not alone, and gives you something to relate to and lose yourself in. So crank up the tunes, and belt your aching heart out.

Treat yourself.
Chocolate truffles, cookie dough ice cream, anything that has a super sugary taste is sure to ease any amount of pain. It's okay to deserve every bit of ice cream today. Just make sure it doesn't become a regular habit. Allow yourself one day of wallowing and then get back up!

Write down your feelings.
Keep a journal, and document your feelings. Include what actions made you feel a certain way, and what helped you through it. Your feelings may change, depending on what you do. And it is helpful to know what makes you happy when you’re sad so that next time, you're prepared. Plus, journalling is a great way to get your emotions out on paper instead of trapped inside.

Watch your favorite show, on repeat.
Netflix and chill, but just chill with yourself. Watch your old favorite show that never fails to make you laugh or turn on a playful animated flick that'll give you all the happy, feel-good vibes. Get your munchies and settle down in bed with your coziest PJs and blankets.

Make plans for tomorrow.
If today just, well, sucks, remember that tomorrow will be better. It will be a brand new day and there is always something to look forward to. Call your girlfriends and plan the day out so you have something to look forward to and don't isolate yourself (which can make you feel worse!).
