Top 8 ways to practice self care this summer

Even in summer, life can get stressful. You might be working a stressful part time job at the ice cream shop, babysitting your sibs and trying to squeeze in as much time with your besties as possible. But don't forget that it’s *super* important to take care of yourself, too. Here are some ideas to get you started on your summer of self care.

1. Get outside. Going for a peaceful walk or even just laying out on the deck for a few minutes (SPF always, please!) will help you score some vitamin D from the sun, boost your mood and just get a breath of fresh air.

2. Eat lots of fruits. It’s always important to eat healthy, and summertime makes it easy. With so many in-season fruits like watermelon, strawberries and pineapples, your morning smoothie bowl is looking a *lot* more delicious.

3. Jump in the pool for a bit. Cool off and take a dip in the pool. Relax on a floatie or grab some friends and a beach ball for an afternoon of fun.

4. Light some candles. Make your room smell like the beach, or your favorite fruit, or your favorite flower, or pretty much anything! Smelling something wonderful will relax you.

5. Practice yoga. Rolling out your mat is a great way to be active *and* take some time for self reflection. Your muscles will be warm and your mind will be much calmer.

6. Organize something. Whether your room’s a disaster or there’s only one crooked book on your shelf, organizing any space will give your mind something new to focus on. Plus, you’ll feel so good when it’s finished.

7. Make a dance playlist, then jam to it. Build a playlist of all your fave songs on Spotify and have a dance party with friends or by yourself. Dancing releases endorphins which means mega happiness.

8. Focus on yourself. No matter what, it’s important to take time for yourself and do what makes you happy. Don’t stop doing what makes you happy, whether it’s reading, soccer or anything else. Remember that you are important and putting yourself on the back burner for other people is not an option.
