The "I don't work out" workout

Coveting a sleek, toned bod but not quite willing to climb on a treadmill or pump some iron? No sweat, sweetie—there are tons of ways you can tone up without setting foot outside your front door.

Tackle the stairs

Run your way up and down the steps instead of walking. Ideally, you want to get your heart pumping for at least 15 minutes at a time, so consider adding stair jogging to part of your day. Do it for 15 to 20 mins when you get home from school—and be careful!

Commercial break

Watching TV? Get off the couch and get moving. Leap up at every commercial break and do jumping jacks until your show comes back on. Then, park yourself on the floor and do some toning activities, like holding yourself in plank position for as long as you can while you watch, or doing some slow-count sit-ups to really test your core. Park it on your side and do some leg lifts (bottom leg stretching upward over your body, and holding both legs off the ground and lifting the bottom leg up and down without wiggling your bod).

Book it

Grab a brick-like book and do some bicep and tricep curls. Think: 2 series of 10 reps on each arm.

Lunge, lady

Brainstorming for an English essay? Waiting for dinner to be ready? Multitask with a lunge around the house. Go slow, breathe dip and feel the movement in yours legs, bum and abs.

Dance, dance revolution

Wake up to the radio or a fave playlist? Boogie your way through your a.m. routine. Belt out a tune in the shower, get your toes tapping while you dry your hair, bust a move while you brush your teeth, rock out when ya make your bed. Hello, easy 15 minutes of way-fun cardio.
