5 workout tips you should never follow

We've all heard some sort of questionable advice before: from "weights make you bulky" to "push through the pain", there are so many opinions to consider. But how do you know what to really believe? We did some digging and rounded up the worst advice you should never follow when it comes to your sweat sesh.

Carb load the day before

We’re not dissing pasta parties that tons of sports teams have the day before a huge game, but they’re not a necessity. As long as you don’t exert yourself as much the day before, your body will naturally store extra carbs. By carb loading, you are giving yourself twice as much as you need.

No pain, no gain

While it is important to push your body to get a good workout in, you need to make sure you’re also paying attention to what your body is trying to tell you.If something starts to hurt, then stop and take break. Pushing yourself and going beyond the limit are two very different things. Know your body, and know when to take a break.

There’s a certain time to workout

Sure, working out in the morning might give you tons of energy for the day. Working out at night could be a great stress reliever, but there is no time that is better than another. As long as you get your 60 minutes of daily exercise in, it doesn’t really matter when you do it.

The only way to lose weight is to work out

Yes, working out is extremely healthy, but don’t fret if you’re not at the gym 24/7. Watch what you eat and portion control is the best way to lose weight quickly. Not only will you cut out unnecessary foods, but you will feel refreshed and healthy in no time!

You need a gym membership

Ok, so having a gym membership, you get tons of equipment and classes at your disposal...but you don’t need a membership to work out. By motivating yourself and getting creative, you can do the same amount of work right in the comfort of your living room.
