Your Bod

Everyone's shaving but me. How can I convince my mom to let me shave?

I'm in seventh grade and still have hair on my legs. I'm afraid to ask my mom if I can shave. She’ll probably assume I'm doing it for boys and I’m not. But the hair on my legs GROSSES ME OUT. I am the only girl in the whole grade who doesn't shave. I really want to shave my legs but I don't know how to ask! HELP.
I totally remember when I realized that everyone else had smooth legs in gym class except me. I was really embarrassed to talk to my mom about it, too. Your mom may not want you growing up too fast, but she also may not be as shocked by your request as you think.

Make sure you calmly explain to her that your main concern is that YOU want to shave and that you feel left out because it’s time ta get with the program. Understand that to her, you’re still her little girl, but be firm rather than whiny in your request. If she still doesn’t hear ya, maybe you could suggest she speak with an already-shaving friend’s mom for parental support.
