I Can't Keep Up in Gym Class

I’m not athletic AT ALL. I can run, but not nearly as fast as the average 13-year-old girl. I’m just really bad at all things P.E. I’m fit and healthy, but how do I get better at gym class and athletic activities so that I’m not the last person coming in at the end of a run?
Hey girl,
It must be tough to feel like you’re the slowest one in the class, but don’t fear—your athleticism can be improved! If you’re healthy and already fit, then it shouldn’t be too difficult to get you into athletic shape. You might not be the next WNBA player, but you might be able to keep up with the rest of your class at gym.
For starters, you’ll need to incorporate some exercise into your daily life. If the only time you’re getting a workout is in gym class, then it’s going to feel way more difficult than it needs to every time you have to run with your class.
There are different things you can try—jogging on your own a few minutes a day will help significantly (try to slowly work up to 30 minutes and walk another 30). If you find running boring as some of us do, there are lots of exercise moves and workouts that involve cardio (check out these from GL!). You can grab a friend and do them together.

Being in shape isn’t something that necessarily comes naturally. But getting an hour of physical activity a day (even power-walking) is super-healthy for you and can really improve your stamina in gym class.
