Your Bod

I feel kinda dumb asking this, but how do you wax?

No question's a dumb question when it comes to growing up. And waxing? It’s def part of becoming a woman; removing leg hair is a totes new thing and the most important thing you can do is be educated.

Get some help
Before you prepare to wax your legs, grab an expert to pick out the kit with you: your mom. She’ll know all the good brands and ones she trusts and can help you with your first time waxing. When you actually wax your legs, you’ll rely on the kit’s step-by-step instructions for getting the hair off.

The 411
Waxing has its pros (hair grows back more slowly than with other methods and less thick) and cons (it’s painful when you rip it all off at once). Essentially, you’ll buy a kit that includes strips, wax and an applicator. You’ll heat the wax according to the kit’s instructions and apply it in the direction of hair growth. Before the wax cools, you’ll stick the stripe on top and smooth it out.

Getting rid of the hair is the ouchy part: You’ve gotta pull the strip off in the opposite direction of the hair growth. Best to do it quick, like a band-aid.

After you remove the stripes, it’s important you wash all remaining wax off with body oil, not hot water (remember the wax was warmed so it would stick!). You can also use an after-wax lotion to prevent ingrown hairs, too.

Follow your kit’s instructions explicitly because methods vary from kit to kit. Good luck, girl, and don’t be afraid to ask questions!
