Your Bod

My abdominal fat won't go away!

My abdominal fat won’t go away. I’ve tried dieting and fitness, but it isn’t working. Apparently I have a low metabolism, which makes it hard for me to lose weight and burn fat. Please help! I need a inexpensive way to lose the fat and keep it off.

The only healthy way to get rid of fat is to eat healthily and do cardio. Losing weight and burning fat isn’t something that will happen overnight or even in just a week or two. Experts say that losing only a pound or two a week is healthy, so it’s gonna take some time.

How healthy have you been eating? You need to educate yourself about proper portion sizes and learn how much of a certain thing your body needs to function. I highly recommend speaking with a nutritionist when you revamp your eating habits. A nutritionist will be able to tell you what to eat, when to eat, how often to eat and what sort of changes a healthier diet will have on your body.

When it comes to fitness, there are a lot of great things you could be doing—lifting weights, doing crunches—that are fab for your body, but might not be good for burning fat. You need to do cardio—running, aerobics, dance, jumping rope, kick boxing—to burn fat. One more thing: It is almost impossible to target certain areas of your body for burning off fat, so while you might still see some pudge on your tummy, your legs, arms and face might be showing the fruit of your labors.

Wanna know the most important thing? Consulting your doctor. You should never attempt to lose weight without talking to a professional, even if it’s just over the phone. Trimming your waist is great, but doing it unhealthily can be detrimental to your bod, so take the time to do it right.
