No harm in shavin' hairy thighs

My mom says that I should never shave my thighs. They are all hairy, though, and when it’s hot and all the girls at school wear shorts, I feel so different. Is it healthy to shave your thighs?
There are no real health related components to shaving your thighs, so breathe easy babe! There are rumors that shaving your thighs can make your hair there darker and thicker, but that’s definitely not true. You can’t change the color of your hair just by shaving, and although the hair may appear thicker as it first grows in, that’s only because it’s new hair that’s just been cut. You are not going to damage your thighs or hair by shaving them.
If hairy thighs are making you uncomfortable, then shaving them might give you the boost of self-esteem you’re looking for…and help ya to fit in when everybody’s still wearing shorts. But remember: There’s nothing wrong with bearing hairy legs. If you don’t want to shave them, you certainly don’t have to, even if every other girl at school does it.
The next time it comes up in a convo with your mom, ask her why she thinks you should never shave your thighs. Consider her point of view, but know that at the end of the day, those are your thighs to shave—or not—as you please.
