Will my yeast infection go away by itself?

I’ve noticed an unusual gross smell from “down there.” I think I have a yeast infection, but I’m embarrassed to talk to my mom about it. Will it go away on its own, or do I need medicine or something?

Go to the gyno, girl friend. Because your discharge has an odor, it’s probably not a yeast infection. You most likely have another type of vaginal infection, and only a doc can give you the correct diagnosis and treatment. No need to be red-faced about it—chances are, your mother has had her fair share of problems “down there.” Most women have, and it is rarely anything to worry about—but, no, don’t expect it to magically disappear. Tell your mom, pronto.
