Your Bod

"I feel uncomfortable shopping with my friends"

Growing up is SO bittersweet. There are amazing parts about growing up, and there are some not so amazing parts about growing up. You may hit puberty before your friends and your body may start to fill out before your friends. This isn’t a bad thing, trust me.

When I was a freshman in high school and would go to the mall with my friends, I noticed they were all still buying size 0’s. I was buying size 4’s. I felt embarrassed and insecure shopping with them, I haven’t been a size 0 in probably a year or two. When puberty hit me, I got hips and a few extra pounds. My friends were still super tiny and haven’t really hit puberty yet. This made me SO self-conscious and insecure, why was I so much bigger than them!? We used to always all share the same clothes and be the same size, and now all the sudden I was 4 sizes bigger than them...

Until I was in college, I didn’t realize that your pants size does. not. matter. No one actually cares if you are a size 0 or a size 4. Everyone is unique and beautiful in their own ways, just because you aren’t a size 0 doesn’t mean you are any less special and vice versa. If you’re worried about what other people will think of you that you’re not a size 0, don’t.

So next time you are at the mall with your friends, don’t feel embarrassed about buying a larger size than your friends. It might sound cliche, but it's what's on the inside that matters, not the outside.
