Lessons from Mom

GL editors and staff are sharing their fave lessons that they’ve learned from mom.
My mom always tells me, “Always be kind to your sisters. You might need them later on in life.” I can totally see that with my mom and her five sisters. From sick family members to other tough times, they’re always calling on one another for input and pick-me-ups, reminiscing over their fave childhood memories. ~Trish, Assistant Editor
Brooke and her mom!

My mother always taught me the importance of positivity. To this day, I always remember her words of wisdom and make sure I take the time to appreciate the small things and keep a positive outlook – the rest just falls into place. ~Brooke, National Sales Advertising Sales Director
My mom's always been on my case about moisturizing my skin since I hit puberty, that I'd regret it if I didn't start early. Boy do I SO wish I listened! ~Jiae, Senior Online Editor
Patty and her mom all dolled up!

My mom always says “work on number 1” a.k.a. do things that make you happy and everything else is bound to follow. ~Patty, Senior National Advertising Sales Director
 Baby Cait, Nana and Mom

My mom taught me to ALWAYS be on time if not early for everything. Why? Not only is it respectful, but it also shows that you're on-task, organized and ready to go. Plus, it's a piece of advice you can take anywhere from an office to a first date. ~Cait, Online Assistant Editor
My mom taught me that family is the most important thing you have. ~Meg, Editorial Assistant
 Keri and her big bro!

My mom would reassure me when I was little and my brother was picking on me, that one day we would grew up and be friends. Yea right! I never believed her. But now, both adults, I admit Mom was right, as usual. ~Keri, National Advertising Sales Assistant

My mom always told me to travel as much as possible. I tried to go to all the school trips that were offered, from a weekend in NYC to a week learning about travel writing in Sicily. I almost backed out of my study abroad program, but she convinced me to stick with it. The experience was amazing! ~Katie A, Senior Editor
The most important thing my mother taught me was to be strong. She ingrained in my head that I can accomplish anything I put my mind to no matter what challenges I face in the process. My mother is the strongest woman I know. ~Katie Matarazzo Speca, National Advertising Sales Manager
