"Why am I always the one making plans?"

Dear Carol,
I'm having a problem with my friends. Friendship is a two-way street, right? Well, my friends never seem to call or text me, and I'm always the one who has to arrange plans. My friends are amazing and we have lots of fun together, but I don't know why they never follow up on plans or ask me to do things. Is something wrong with me?

Dear One-way Friendships,
There's nothing wrong with you. Some people (like you and I) are just better at making plans, throwing parties, and pressing "Reply" than others. If you have fun with your friends and are often the one taking initiative, that's not the end of the world. That said, it's always good to keep reaching out to new kids, too.
