How to *really* stick to your resolutions

Each new year, it's usually only a matter of time before our socials become swarmed with memes about ditching the resolutions and sliding back into bad habits. Not this year, girls! We have a couple tips on how to make achievable goals and how to stick with them through the long haul.

Find your most zen and comfortable happy place to think

It's best to be your most comfortable self when you are reflecting on what you want to change. Go to your bedroom or that quiet little coffee shop and take time to write out the pros and cons of 2019. What would you like to be different moving forward? Use this list as a baseline for the goals you are going to set for yourself.

Be reasonable about what can be done in one year

It is a beautiful thing to have dreams to become a doctor or travel the world. However, if you're a teenager and are still in school, those are goals that are going to take a lot of time and planning, much more time than just a year. Think reasonably about where you are in your life and what capabilities you have. Maybe you want to find an internship for an organization you're passionate about or want to start writing your first novel. Those may be challenging but are totally in your reach. You got this!

Put the list in an obvious and visible spot in your room

Many people make the mistake of either never writing their resolutions down, or writing them down and stuffing them in a drawer somewhere. Out of sight, out of mind! By keeping your list of goals attached to your vision board or taped to your desk, you will have a constant reminder of what you set out to do. Each week, you can ask yourself if you have made any progress and plan your future weeks accordingly.

Take on the challenge with your besties

You're never in this alone. It can be super difficult to adapt to change or start up good habits on your own, so invite your friends over to discuss ways you guys can help each other stay on track. Maybe you can all meet up every Monday morning before class for a jog, or have an hour-long study session every Friday to work your way up to honor roll next semester.
