How a simple compliment could change your mood

It's National Compliment Day! It may be a little random, but this is a holiday we can so get behind. Who doesn't like telling people how awesome they are (or vice versa)? Whether you're giving or receiving 'em, compliments are a huge mood booster.
We asked some of our interns what the best compliment they've ever recived was - here's what they had to say:

“Once, a friend suggested I should be Princess Jasmine for Halloween since I look just like her. This made my day, as being told you look like a Disney Princess was the ULTIMATE compliment a girl could get in elementary school.” -Reah S.

“My senior year in high school, I had really long strawberry blonde hair, and was nominated for the "best hair" senior superlative. I didn't get it, but it was really flattering that someone I didn't really know nominated me.” -Anna Maria H.

"A friend of a friend was doing me a favor one time, and when we met up to work out the details he told me I had really pretty eyes. It was totally out of the blue and not at all flirty, which just made it feel even more sincere and flattering." - Chelsea D.

“My guy best friend once told me that I have such a beautiful complexion and almond-shaped eyes. It totally made my day.” -Crystal W.

“It was a very busy day at work and a customer called, asking a lot of bizarre questions. After helping him, the customer told me I had a really beautiful voice and thanked me for helping him. It gave me just the boost I needed to finish the rest of my shift!” -Lisa C.

"This one time, one of my sorority sisters told me that I had such a bubbly personality and seeing me happy was contagious. I loved hearing that I was helping others feel happy in a way.” -Angelina K.

“One of the best compliments I've received is when people tell me they are proud of me. I think the worst thing someone could say is the D-word (disappointed). When people are proud of you, it really makes you feel a lot better and motivates you to want to succeed again.” -Caitlin M.

"I recently went out with some friends and saw this guy that I've been crushing on for years. We ended up talking and he leaned over and told me that he thought I was one of the most beautiful girls he has ever met. I was so shocked because I never thought he even noticed me before. I couldn't stop smiling the rest of the night." -Bridget M.

“I threw a slumber party and one of the girls mentioned that she loved the way my room was decorated and that it looked like it was pulled from a magazine. I want to be an interior designer in the future, so this was the best thing to hear.” -Melody G.

So what are you waiting for? Tell that girl in English how much you love her new boots or that ah-dorable drama guy how much you loved him in the play last week. We can all use a little encouragement sometimes, and you never know, if you spread the love, you might find out what other people secretly admire about you.
