LIFE

Dear Carol

"Dear Carol, my BFF's mom is dying and I don't know how to help her"

Dear Carol,
My BFF's mom is dying and I have no clue what to do or say. I'm not sure if my friend needs to talk, but I want to help. How can I make her feel better without causing her to feel uneasy.
–Wanting to Help

Dear Wanting to Help,
I'm sorry about your friend's mom but glad you're so caring. Let your friend know you're there for her during this difficult time. Some days, she'll want to laugh and be silly. Other days, she might want to scream or sob. There may even be days she acts really mad at the world. Tell her you love her and are a phone call away. And if you like her mom, say so. She might take comfort knowing you think fondly of her mother.
