Dear Carol

"Dear Carol, I think I have a crush on my BF's BFF—what do I do?"

Dear Carol,
I like my boyfriend’s best friend and I don’t know what to do, I feel so guilty. He has a girlfriend who’s my friend, and they’ve been together for two years, and my boyfriend and I have been together for three. I keep telling myself it’s just a crush, and that I shouldn’t say or do anything. The problem is, I wish he was single so we could be together. I know I shouldn’t think that, but I do. Help!
—Crushing Hard

Dear Crushing Hard,
Unless he’s giving you loud-and-clear signals, I’d keep this quiet. No one is single in this picture, and everyone knows everyone, so confessing your feelings (which are normal and natural) would cause a lot of drama. Besides, there are more than four people in the world. Someday soon you and your BF may part ways, and that’s fine. For some couples, summer is a natural time to end a relationship that was never meant to last a lifetime. Is it time to set each other free?
