Don't wake the baby: quiet activities

SHHH... He’s sleeping! Now, what about the other two kiddies running around?

What happens when you finally get the littlest one down for his long awaited nap but as you tip toe away, you realize you’ve got the other little ones to entertain? The last thing you want is for any noise to wake up the peaceful sleeper.

Never fear--here are a few easy and QUIET pastimes for the hyper little ones:

1) Put on their favorite TV show, but make sure the volume is low. The kiddies will be more interested in the action on the screen to notice that the volume is low, and you'll have blissful quiet.

2) What happens if they demand to play with their train set?
Bring the train set and toy cars down to the basement so the sleeping beauty won't be disturbed by the noise. Make sure there are plenty of toys so there won’t be any reason to fight over sharing or make noisy trips back upstairs. But make sure you have a baby monitor so you can hear when sleeping beauty needs you (and you should be the only one traipsing upstairs every now and then to make sure the baby is OK).

3) Make them their favorite snack. Sit them down at the table or in front of the TV and make them a mess free snack, like carrots or Goldfish.

4) Read them books or make up your own story. Kids love to listen to stories, so let them pick out their favorite books to have you read to them while they enjoy their snacks. Or, put on a TV show on mute and have them make up their own dialogue to it. Quietly, of course.

With these activities, you’ll survive naptime and teach the kiddies new ways to have fun quietly.
