Babysitting this summer? 5 fun activities to keep kids away from the TV

Spending your afternoons taking care of tots this summer? Have some fun while you rake in the dough! Here are five of our favorite summertime activities. Bonus? They are super easy, and everyone will enjoy them—even you, chica.
Take your lunch outside, bring a blanket and have an outdoor picnic. This will be a fun change of scenery and get the kids outside and enjoying the warm weather… If it’s a gross, rainy day, try making an elaborate fort out of sheets, blankets, and pillows and move your picnic in there. This can lead to hours of entertainment. Just don’t forget to clean up afterwards!
Throw on some swimsuits and use a sprinkler or a hose to cool off.  Bonus points if you make a game out of it. This can provide hours of easy entertainment.
Toss around a ball or frisbee to pass the time. This is a fun and inclusive activity that everyone can enjoy. For hot days, try soaking a foam ball in water or filling up a pile of water balloons.
Chalk is always a great and easy go-to. Hit the pavement and the kids will be able to unleash their artistic side. Hopscotch, hangman and four square are old-school games that anyone can enjoy.

Make a nature scavenger hunt!

Summer is a great time to enjoy the outdoors, and this is a great way to get everyone outside and having a blast. This is a super fun activity and it can be as long as you make it. How to: Make a list of a bunch of things to find like a certain shaped leaf or pinecone and then you can let the kids lead the way as they try to find the items that you set out for them.
