Here's how you can participate in Gun Violence Awareness Day

One of the most widely discussed subjects in media, schools and households as of late is gun violence. With the amount of school shootings in the U.S. this year (there have been 23, according to CNN), gun violence has sparked national debates, international movements and turned teens into victims, activists and aspiring politicians.

More than that, teens across the country and around the world have taken to the streets to demand change in the form of marches, protests and sit-ins. Haven’t been able to participate in a movement? Today, June 1, is National Gun Violence Awareness Day and it's your opportunity to make your voice heard. And it's simple: Just wear orange to honor those affected by gun violence, and stand with their loved ones.

In addition to National Gun Violence Awareness Day, June 2 and 3 will be devoted to events such as; marches, BBQ’s, rallies and more. These events will serve as opportunities for people to come together in recognition of the horrifying statistics of gun violence. You can go HERE to find an event near you.

The movement doesn’t stop there, follow along using the hashtag #WearOrange on social media to see participants from around the globe.
