How to make yourself the main character in your life this spring

Main character (noun): The character in a story of any kind who holds the most importance, and who the plot centers around.

We all want to be the main character. The one featured in the coming-of-age movie montages, the one who falls in love, dances in the rain, and lives a life that *everyone* dreams of living. While most movies, TV shows, and YA novels dramatize the "magnificence" of being a teenager, it's still possible to obtain that main character type lifestyle in real life. Here are some of our favorite ways to live out our main character fantasies this spring.

1. Keep a video diary

Every movie has a trailer, every book has a blurb on its cover. Consider your video diary the trailer to your life. To make one, we suggest using the app 1 Second Everyday. It allows you to record a one-second clip daily and compiles it into a video montage. You could also use Snapchat or the camera app on your phone to capture memories on video. Record your best memories from the year and look back on them to bask in your main character energy.

2. Make a spring bucket list with friends

Main characters don't sit around and wait for fun things to happen to them...they make fun things happen! Grab your best friends and create a list of things you want to do together this spring. Write them down on a piece of paper, decorate it and then go out and check them off your list!

3. Dress in a more authentic aesthetic

Main characters always wear what they want, no matter what everyone else thinks. Now is your time to take a trip to your local mall, favorite online shopping store, or closet (Don't rule out your family and friends' closets) to find what clothes look the best and make you feel your best. Having confidence in what you wear will not only make you happier, but it will attract others to you. You control how you present yourself to the world!

4. Make a playlist to suit your every mood and activity

And we mean *every* mood. Think of your playlists as the soundtrack to your life. You need music to accompany your highest highs and lowest lows. Music is a known mood-booster, and adds fun to every situation. When possible, pretend you're in a music video and have full out dance parties (Yes, using your hairbrush as a microphone and all.) Plus, you'll have a lot of fun discovering new music. 5. Take breaks regularly

Relaxation time can be very therapeutic. If you've had a stressful week in school or just need a break, treat yourself to a walk outside or an at-home spa day. Taking care of your health should be prioritized above all else. Use this time to address your mind and body's needs. After all, the plot can't continue if the main character isn't feeling well.

6. Pursue your passion

Think about when you are happiest. What do you enjoy doing the most? Whether it's dancing, soccer, fashion or cooking, finding your passion and pursuing it is the greatest way to get in touch with yourself and show the world what you're all about. Do what you want to do, regardless of what anyone else has to say about it. Try designating a time each day to pursue your hobby of choice and observe whether you feel more accomplished at the end of your day!

7. Practice self-love

Self-affirmations are a great way of reminding yourself that you are powerful, beautiful and important. Staring into a mirror and complimenting yourself, recognizing your successes and good qualities, or simply adding an affirmation to your lockscreen to inspire you can help you to overcome self-sabotaging negative thoughts. Eventually, you'll begin to believe in your self-affirmations and achieve a more positive mindset.

The ultimate advice we could give for making yourself the main character in your life is to take action and do what you want. Recognize that you, and you alone, have control over how you want your life to look. Allowing others to dictate how you live your life makes you a supporting character in their life. Prioritze your needs and maintain your opinions. Do the things listed above if you believe you will enjoy them. Everyone's storyline looks different, enjoy yours.
