Girl Talk: Sick Kitty

kitty.jpg

My cat, Bambi, is 15 1/2 years old. He lost a good amount of weight last year, and in the past week, he's lost more. He's also sleeping a lot more and having trouble walking. We went to the vet, and they gave him B vitamins and fluids. They drew blood and we'll get the results tomorrow. My neighbor (who is fairly good expert in cats) said he'll probably only have a week left. She said he probably feels disappointed every time he wakes from a nap and that he'll probably have to be euthanized. I have known and lived with this cat since I was a year old. (He's older than me by 2 1/2 years.) How can I deal with him being this sick?'

-I Luv Bambi'

Hey love, I totally understand what you're going through. I sort of went through the same thing myself. When my doggy passed away a couple of years ago, I was completely devastated. A part of me still isn't over it. I'm not going to say it won't be hard loosing such a loved pet because it will be...

But as the saying goes, time heals all wounds. Day by day, as time passes, you'll start to slowly feel less and less heartache. Your kitty has lived a long and healthy life and has brought a lot of joy to everyone in your family. All those memories and all the happy times won't go away. Why don't you make a little scrapbook or box to keep all those great memories alive. This way, whenever you feel sad or you miss your cat, you can open up the book and see all the fun times you've had.

-Hugs,
Jiae
